www.gizmology.net/tracked.htm also this link: www.scmec.us/diffs3.html Basically the same thing but with explanations. Kind of hard to read though. This guy has lots of interesting stuff on his site. He even built a working scale model of a tank for his son to drive, out of wood. |

No problem Andrew I think the industry needs a new type of Transmission that works like a dozer that isn't Hydraulic or Hydrostaticly operated one that will operate one side of your wheels forward & the other side in reverse when you turn so you don't tear up the ground as much and a transmission like one of those on the gizmology site above could be a very good possibility some one just needs to build one small enough and light enough to work in our atv's. |

The skid steer transmission in the Max will do this. A person can run one set of wheels forward and one set in reverse by seperating the shift linkage and shifting each side independently. The down side is the required shifting and it isn't automatic like what it sounds like you are suggesting. |

The Sierra Trail Boss uses dual transmissions that will turn forward and reverse without changing gears. All you have to do is move the steering levers (often with great force) and you can spin a 360 just like a hydrostat. The Boss trans needs some 'updating' to make it just right and it definately needs a good alternate braking system. It's great for hydro-like steering, but the T-20 is still far better in performance. All vehicles of this type will tear up nice lawns when skidding or rotating. Even zero turn lawn mower operators have to be very careful not to tear up grass by spinning. Three point turns are often used over just spinning on a dime. |

I've seen all the modifications on the T-20 and I have owned 2 Max II's so I am quite familiar with them. I didn't know about the Sierra Trail Boss though. I have operated a Dixie Chopper & a Ferris before & you have to start one wheel in the reverse direction before you go forward with the other to avoid tearing up the turf. I don't really want to go with Hydraulics becuuse you have to keep your engine rpm's up all the time in order to get anywhere with them it's annoying to me. I do like them though except for the engine noise. I went out & drove a Hydrotraxx I was impressed by it, it had plenty of power 4 cyl Nissan!! was a little slow & I don't care for a front eng. but no complaints other than that, that I can remember. I still think someone can come up with an automatic trans that will be just as good or better than the T-20. |

I wish someone would come up with a transmission like they had in the jigers. |
