I have modified my Max IV oil filter so I can run a much cheaper and larger oil filter. I bought a Wix oil filter # 51516. I had to relocate the oil drain valve to the front side of the engine. Then, plug the hole with a hex pipe plug (so it is flush with the block). Here are some pic links. http://d-seidel.home.comcast.net/aatv/oilfilter.jpg http://d-seidel.home.comcast.net/aatv/oilfilter1.jpg http://d-seidel.home.comcast.net/aatv/oilfilterrelocate.jpg http://d-seidel.home.comcast.net/aatv/oilfilterrelocate1.jpg http://d-seidel.home.comcast.net/aatv/oilfilterrelocate2.jpg http://d-seidel.home.comcast.net/aatv/oilfilterrelocate3.jpg http://d-seidel.home.comcast.net/aatv/oilfilterrelocate4.jpg I also used Mobile 1 V-Twin Motorcycle synthetic oil. This will lower your engine temp significantly in the hot summer, and allow it to spin over like it was 70 degrees out even when it is -20 degrees here in Minnesota. I have a Cool Collar oil filter cooler that I have not put on yet. Don't need it in the winter months. |
