Marty, the centaur is a lot different than the ARGO vehicles. It has hydrostatic turning, and completely different steering stuff. It is still skid steer, but the idea was to make it easier for people to use the Centaur. The argo takes some getting used to but the centaur is more a heavy machine type vehicle for utility companies, etc. I hope to god that argo never has a steering wheel. They are unique vehicles and they do a great job the way they are. |

Marty I have seen the Centaur in action out on the trails. It is a huge machine in the woods. An Argo 8 wheeler is big and long enough but the Centaur is just huge. I would compare it to having a full size truck in the woods versus a mini truck. If you were looking for a machine to use on the farm it would probably be a very nice machine with the diesel engine. Hi Marty, The centaur is ODG's very good attempt at a tank drive system Abolute full time all wheel drive. The T20 in a Max is better than an open diff like an Argo; but the centaur tranny has it all over the T20. The T20 is all wheel drive while going straight but power is cut to the inside wheels to turn. The Centaur drive system uses a two diff system that transfers power from the inside wheels to the outside wheels so it can turn under full load whithout loosing power or traction. Down side is size weight cost but if you are after a no compromise workhorse this may be for you. I just wish someone could make a strong small version of this tranny to put in regular Argos, if that happened max sales would fall through the floor as their main advantage as I see it is a better Tranny, or should i say a more effective tranny. |

Eugene, I am currently working on such a transmission. This would not be for production but just for my own fun. I will probably roll it out in 2004 at Humphrey. I am also working on some upgrades to my Terra Tigers steering and braking so that's first to get done. |
