I know the ranger 6x6 doesn't float, but how does it otherwise compare to a Max or Argo? |

Don, it is an apples to grapefruit comparison. Skid steer is in a class by itself for performance, agility and low PSI on the ground. The Polaris is a little pickup, a quad with six wheels. The difference is as basic as the skid steer loader verses a tractor loader - so far apart, the ends can't get close enough to try to make a match. |

Don, If floatation is not important to you, and I know speed is, The Polaris Ranger may be the right machine for you. I have 2 Polaris quads, and I am very happy with them. The Ranger has a steering wheel, bench seat with room for 2 adults, and possibly a kid seated in between. Al |

Don, A farmer close to me just got a Polaris 6x6, and it's a pretty cool machine. I think it's only 4 wheel drive, but I'm not sure. It seems to carry a load on it's back just fine, we've loaded it up pretty high with cut wood and it moved it with ease. We were moving some large rocks out of the woods to make a garden, chain 'em up and tow. I'm using a Max Buffalo Truck and my Max seemed to do a little better when dragging the rocks across the ground. The suspension in the Polaris squatted under the load and then spun. My Max was however, able to tow the rocks that made the Polaris sit and spin. As far as power goes, it seemed plenty strong if it had the traction. When going through the woods, My Max had a little advantage over him. He needs a wide area to turn so he got stuck between trees and such fairly often. Had to do multi-point turns to make it through the woods. My max on the other hand, just spun and drove, easy. There is no question though, that his Polaris is a technical masterpiece when compared to my ultra low tech (but reliable) Max. I like them both. In the open field, My max couldn't even come close to his speed, and the ride on the Polaris is really quite smooth, even across a field. Not so in my Max. (To my Max's credit though, with it's ride, it really feels like you're flying like a bat from hell, even if you aren't) |
