Is it reasonable to expect a Max IV to be able to go in salt water if I were to wash it down afterwards or is this something that should probably be avoided?

Robert,
Make sure that when you do take iti into salt water, WASH WASH WASH afterward. Don't forget to relube your bearings as well. If you get water into the hull rinse it out as well.
