I am coming home from Iraq next week, I have contacted a few argo dealers, they did not seem interested in selling me. Does anyone know a good argo dealer, I live in Illinois but a drive is not out of the question, in fact I would enjoy it Jeff McBrayer |

Wow, thanks for the many responses, Sorry I have not got back until now, been out on duty. I will be checking with these all these folks soon, I have talked with Orrs in Indiana, seems Argo has pulled out, putting them out of business, Argo saying they are going to be selling machines direct to the dealer, just like Max does, Someone told me that the Orrs were the second distributor they did this too, and the rest are not far behind, such a shame as many of these people have worked so hard to give Argo a good name, kind of makes me not as interested in a machine, sorry Argo guys. I have talked with Ron in TN, seems to be very nice and has the cool dual trolling motor kits available, which can be seen on this sights ads. He told me his kits will soon be available for the Max 4 machine. I may now consider a Max, since the Argo deal stinks. Do you guys know Argo has raised prices a lot. A 8x8 Frontier cost almost same as a Advenger. However there seems to be lots of dealers with unsold machines at the old price. I really want to find a dealer who is in a position to stand behind me, as this is a major purchase for me Will be calling you Fred and Steven as soon as I can get a line out, my time is limited by the Army, they have even cut out email, since I am going home soon. Thanks so much |

Argo is trying to change the way they do things. No one is sure what will happen, they have not changed my dealership, nor talked with me about it. I too hate the Orrs, getting out of Argo, there are few, if any who have put the time into Argo that the Orrs have. I will give Argo this much, the new line-up is great, & the 8x8 Frontier is one of the best. P.S. 8x8 Frontier is over $3000.00 less than the base Avenger. |

That frontier based 8x8 looks good, what the response and conquest needed updated. For a $1000 in parts, that briggs 23 could be an easy 35 or 40 hp, weigh no more than a stock 23. Lot less front heavy than the avenger. |

Yes they are a taller block due to stroke. It's not 9" though, less than 1" I think. I was talking about aftermarket performance parts for the 23. |

OK, guess I was thinking about the 23 being traller than the 18 by less than an inch. Yeah if you measure the big air filter can on some models it would be 9" taller. A different filter would be needed. Height across the valve covers is roughly: 18 hp-------17.2" 23----------17.7" 31+ --------20" |

Roger,We have seen your hopped up 18 h.p. based Briggs roar. I would love to see what you could do with the new 23 h.p. Briggs. You are right that the air cooled Frontier is a lot lighter on the front end than my liquid cooled Avenger efi. I am enjoying my new machine though. W. philip Cox |

I can tell you like it by the pictures I've seen, Philip! I'm not the first guy to build a Briggs around here, Tim Schotanus and others did several years ago. Here is a modified 23hp briggs in Alan Will's Attex, Whoo Hoo! http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s124/whipper-ag/?action=view¤t=d06a69b1 .flv |
