Is anyone out there using any 6x6s in the Rescue Service? We are investigating the possibilities of incorporating either a 4x4 or a 6x6 into our service. We are primarily dealing with sand, beach, marsh, some wooded areas (horse trails) and water (2-3 foot deep - salt) on the bay side of this island. Thanks for any input Hatteras Island Rescue Squad, NC |

Jim - I have a Max IV that I make available to my Fire Department when needed. We also use ATV's for land searches. Given the environment of Hatteras a 6x6 would probably give you the best service. (OK, so I'm biased towards 6 x 6 vehicles). I'd love to bring the Max to Hatteras and try it out. There is also a course taught by some local fire and rescue instructors here (Piedmont area of NC)on use of ATV's in the rescue environment. E-mail me direct and I'll get you some contact information. Andy |

I sold a Max II to a fire/rescue department in Arkansas. It was the Magazine Rural Fire Department if you want to look them up and see how it is working out. |

The 8 wheelers are long enough to hold a patient on a stretcher along with a couple of paramedics, if you take the back rest off the front seat. |

The vehicle would be fine for the intended use. My concern would be with the saltwater and brackish water. a good coating of an anticorrosive would be beneficial during the wash after use. |

After talking to a few Missouri Department of Conservation agents I know the state is discussing the purchase of a few AATVs--for exactly the same reason we run them. Brandon--you might want to get in on this--just to keep Max represented of course. LOL. |
