Got a question here. Gasoline prices continue to shoot up, I just paid $3.56 a gallon to fill up my truck to the tune of $80.00 for around 22.3 gallons / 185 lbs of fuel. How is this going to affect you folks going to rides? I realize that the machine is reasonably fuel efficient, but the truck hauling the ATV and other stuff on the trailer is another matter. This is basically just a feeler for the current of folks on here. Anyone know of any rides in the upper plains states? Nebraska/ Iowa, Minnesota, S & N. Dakota? I read on here that the EFI versions of the engines are alot more fuel efficient, better running, and so on. Does anyone know when Kohler, Briggs and so on are going to start making ALL their ATV engines EFI? you know, just upping the industry standards and all that stuff. |

Believe it or not (I'm not sure that I do) there is a lot of speculation going on in the petroleum industry that thinks that by fall of this year we could see $10.00 per gallon of gasoline. Anyone want a good deal on a 05 F150 Supercrew? I might be driving an ATV to work. What sort of gas mileage are you getting in an Avenger EFI? Or a MAX IV? |

Gas mileage-I have been on lots of rides with every kind of machine i can imagine.Attexs,Argos, Maxs,Terra Tigers and more but I have never seen a guy start with a full tank and have to refuel that day. Even including the "night ride". However in terms of straight line miles, who knows, are we going to count going up and coming down? which side of the machine would you attach the odometer to? You would have to tow a single wheel measuring device behind the machine and it would take an awful beating. Oh and it would need to be waterproof! Haha |

I'm paying over $4 a gallon counting the octane additive I use in the argo. It's the only hot rod I can afford, and worth every penny. "have never seen a guy start with a full tank and have to refuel that day. Even including the "night ride". Haspin blows that idea out of the water, Philip! Last trip, we sent the guys to town, in a pickup full of empty 5 gallon containers. |

Another good point! What are the octane requirements for these machines? Anything special? Like my jeep needs the high octane 92 premium stuff, but my F150 runs best with the 87 stuff. Funny, but my F150 gets alot better mileage than that jeep, the jeep 13-15mpg (downhill maybe?)6 mpg in low lock, and the F150 4X4 gets 16-22mpg. And you get a gallon of the octane booster for $4.00? I think I pay that for like 12-16oz! What are you using? Brand name? My jeep and my wallet will thank you. |

I am selling the jeep anyway, never buy one of those for snow & ice. They are not that good, not enough wieght, slide too much. And if you have to go up a steep hill in snow you had better have a 4X4 truck. |

I upped the compression on the argo. Otherwise no need for higher octane. The octane booster works out to add 50 cents ~ a dollar to the price of gas. |

Makes sense. Did you see what Brandon's MAX II on ebay went for? Last I saw, it was $3K even, but that was 9 hours before it closed. I was bouncing off the walls, debating whether or not to buy it. But, with switching jobs into the civilian job market at the end of this month, I just decided against it just yet. Still was very difficult to watch without tossing a bid in on it. I had to go fishing to stop thinking about it! My son Mathieu was even talking to me about it, as he was quick to point out that at 14HP it would be a wonderful start for him. Yeah, right. Maybe a good start for him to go clear driveways next year and make some money with that snow plow to EARN $3k and pay me back.... LOL! Was difficult to watch. Oh well, next round. |
