I have found a Sperry Rand Tricart for sale. the asking price is very reasonable considering the shape its in. It has a 1 cyl 2 stroke on it and has had a rough life. It doesn't run but it looks like its all there. the guy even has extra tires for the front and rear! What is this oddball machine worth in driveable condition? I really want it but my wife does not think I really need it, considering I just bought an ATTEX, have another ATTEX on the way and I need parts for both of them. Any body out there with one or who wants one or who can tell me what one is worth? Is there a market for them? |

Back in November, a complete Tri-cart with two engines went for $225 on ebay. It needed a lot of work and had a bad paint job, but it had potential. As far as I know, these only came with a 230 JLO two-stroke, but there was a machine called the tri-cub that had a four stroke. Both machines were more stable (and more fun) than the jap three wheelers that brought about the ban in the 80s. If you decide to sell yours, I may be interested. |

If the engine's original, it's probably equipped with a tillotson carb, and by the sounds of it, you need a diaphram kit. Just a guess, but those carburetors went through diaphrams really quickly. I will check and see if I have a copy of the 230 Rockwell manual (if that's still the engine in the cart). Don |

Thanks, Don Please forgive my ignorance, but is a diaphram similar to a fuel pump? Im pretty new to mechanical operations. T |

No problem, T; You're right. The old Tillotsons didn't use an external fuel pump: it was the bottom diaphram in the carb that performed the same function. Don |

Hello, Does anyone know of an easy replacement engine, 2 or 4 stroke which would be an easy swap for my tricart which has a Rockwell JLO L230. Or maybe a rebuild kit for my L230? Everything else is in excellent cond. |

Hi, Ron; Mine's got a Briggs in it, I think it's an eight horse. It looks factory to me- all the covers fit the four-stroke like it came that way, so I'm assuming the later 'carts came with the engine. I've also seen engine kits on ebay every so often that include the piston, rings, jug & head for the JLO 230. If I could come up with a JLO in good shape, I might trade off the Briggs and swap it. My sister and her husband had two of the two-stroke models when I was a kid and they were a blast to ride. Good Luck. |
