i just bought this 1972 trail boss 6x6 and the gear boxes are full of water. i want to take them apart but im not sure whats in side. i can rebuild almost anything but never messed with anything like this. anyone got advice or maybe a book on this process????????? please help

no big springs waiting to pop out if you open them but..
water inside is a bad thing.
just a double action cam that tightens one of two brakes at one time in ither direction depending on witch side of a diferential they grab.
far from self energizeing the revers acts like brakes under slight presure if your already moveing forward (or visa versa)
or reverse with a little more pull on the lat's
i drove one that had bin modifyed with springs on it that came in about as far as brakes were safe to pull, i guess so you had an idea when reverse would come in to prevent ocupents from launching themselfes out of the vehicle by acidently goin into revers at high speed.
no on the question about weather i know where to get parts or info,
beond prehaps the link i saw once off links page on route6x6 to a persons site dedicated to the trailboss.

but heres a good place to start as many people here may have more info than i have mentioned.

got them apart and they look great now what kind of fluid did they use in them in 1972???? any good info would be great
