I am looking at an amphicat for sale. I know nothing about them and was wondering if the serial# 1197 and model B7 can tell me the year or engine size or anything. The owner also knows nothing about it. He has the motor out and is somewhere else but said it was a sach. He is asking $75 so cant go to wrong but it looks like it needs lots of help. Thanks. |

Also what size tires will fit? Will bigger tire tear drivelime up? Because of its age, is it built good enough to run bigger tires? What are the amphicat weak points? Thank for any help. |

Do a search on this board for Amphicat. There are a lot of posts about this machine. Check that tub for cracks before you buy. Minor can be fixed. Major can be a problem. There are lot of knowledgable Amphicat owners that read this board. I gave up on my Amphicat years ago and sold it to someone that had more time, resources and desire. |

the bodies are ABS and can be repaired with ABS repair kits (i sell these kit's) typicly amphicats although light duty are a hoot to drive, you will have to try and stick with original tires if posable or the softest rimmed type you can find (nangkang 21x12x8) a serch should net you plenty of info, and also names and e-mail addresses of experts in the lil red thingys |

I have decided to run stock size. Know I want a good tire for water travel. The mud buster are cheap and look like they might work. Would they work good in water or should I get the chevron tread? Thanks. |

I had to look up the mud buster tires to see what you were talking about. I have something like them and they are useless in the water. Considering the age of your vehicle and it is most likely 2 stroke and quicker than most of the B&S motors in modern amphibs you might want to go with the chevron style tires for softer suspension and less wear and tear on you and the machine. You should be able to find the Carlisle chevron tires for between $35 and $40 each. |
