ok here i go i have a max 2 with a jlo 440. bought it not running.got it running on 1 cylinder.cleaned the heck out of the points and finaly got both firing, around 2 hrs of running the same cylinder went out again. to make sure it was the points i changed the points from 1 to 2 and the problem changed cylinders. ordered points from richard and put them in and had fire from both 1 and 2 for about 30 sec and i lost a cylinder again. now i called richard and he said that i have ( or sounds like ) the battery is wired straight to my ignition. it isn't. and i bought the voltage regulator and it is feeding back to the lighting coil and i dont think it should. yes i unhooked it, i think it is a old new bad stock. i with the green wire hooked to the battery and the yellow wire not hooked to the lighting coil can light i light 55w with no prob so i know it is feeding back.i really dont know what i am going to do about that yet. it is the least of my worries with my 2 cylinders but only one works.i have unhooked the wiring harness from the motor still same thing. scott schirtzinger i would buy a 4 stroke BUT i dont think my max II it worth sinking that much money in. like a old car i have 4000 in but only worth 200 cash.i am still looking into that dont know the best way to go. b&s kohler tecumseh. i know some things like a super quite muffler is almost 1/2 as much . thanks for listening and for any help.if you have a ford or sportjet boat i will be glad to give advice for them. |

James In my opinion a 14 V twin is about as small as one should go in a MAX II. Phillip Osborn LA |
