I am looking to build a functional remote control 6-wheel for my son. Can anyone send me photos from frame up? I basically need to know the layout of the frame so I can custom the entire thing. I plan on using a weedwacker engine so he can putt around the yard from the porch..

STEVE GO WITH ELECTRIC MOTORS (2)IT WILL MAKE A REMOT CONTROLE EASYER TO BUILD,
ESYER BECAUSE WITH A SINGLE GASOLINE ENGINE YOU NEED A STERING TRANSMITION FOR FORWARD AND REVERS AS WELL AS STARTING AND STOPING EACH SIDE INDEPENDANTLY, BUT WITH 2 ELECTRIC MOTORS YOU CAN DO ALL THIS WITH 1 MOTOR ON EACH SIDE, SERVOS TO CONTROLE EACH MOTOR NEED ONLY SELECT FORWARD STOP AND REVERS
YOU CAN STILL PUT IN THAT WEED WHACKER ENGINE FOR SOUND EFECTS IF YOU LIKE, AND MAYBE A CHEEP VIDEO CAMERA AND TRANSMITER SO HE CAN WATCH FROM THE PORCH VIA A SMALL TV JUST LIKE HE WAS SITTING IN THE LIL VEHICLE!

Steve,
I started making one 2 years ago. I started by carving foam insulation. I then used it as a mold and covered it with fiberglass to make the hull.
I gave up on the project after starting to poke around for drive gear. The only way I could make all 6 wheels turn was with belts.
Then I couldn't get scale wheels and tires.
By the time I added up the whole cost I was around $500.00.
I was planning on a 1/6 scale so I could put a GI Joe in the driver seat.

G'day Steve,
If you want to save yourself the trouble of scratchbuilding an RC 6x6 AATV model, have a look on eBay for the Robbe Rodeo and Samba vehicles.

The Rodeo is powered by two RS-380s and about 450mm long whilst the Samba is even bigger at about 600 or 700mm length with RS-540 motors and weighs about 8kg (from memory). They are electric, amphibious skid-steer models. I acquired them from a seller in Germany as they seem to be virtually unknown in the rest of the world.

I was converting a yellow GI-Joe 6x6 ATV to RC using two cordless screwdriver motors until I found out about the Rodeo and Samba.

Steve.
