I am currently looking at 2 ATTEXs. One is complete and running but beat up pretty well. The body has many cracks and repairs done to it. It has a 2 cylinder 2 stroke with a trailer. The asking price is around $1000. It does not seem worth that much money to me. Any ideas? The other is in pieces. The body is outside and has some major holes in the front. 2 cylinder 2 stroke with factory CHT gages in the dash. The frame, engine, transmission is out of the body sitting on the floor. This needs a major restoration. I'm not sure what he will take for it. My budget is very limited but I don't mind the work. Anybody have any comments, suggestions or tips on what to really look at?

Personally I'd take the one with the better body. Or better yet keep looking. They are out there. It's pretty easy to fix the engines or buy a new one. Bodies are hard to come by in new or nice used condition.

On the one in pieces, there are a few chunks of body missing from the front. If I buy that one, I was thinking of riveting a piece of plastic or aluminum to the body and using something like liquid nails to seal it. Will this work? Any other "backyard" ideas that are cheap and effective. It doesn't have to look pretty just as long as it works.I'm leaning toward the one in pieces because I think I can get it cheap.

liflod, there is a better way too fix ABS atv's
its a liquid abs that you can paint rite over duct tape and fix thouse holes, many here have tryed it still more are trying it now, it works good, my friends amphicat is mostly made of the stuff, i have bin using it for years and have began selling kits to people just so thay wont bugger up there ABS atv bodys with glass or worse,
give it some thought,i can suply a few e-dresses if you'd like to check out how people like it who have already tryed it,

Another ATTEX found! A friend of mine has 2 ATVs one is a brand new Trail Boss. It has close to zero hours on it because he was a dealer and had to pull the engine and transmission out of it for a customer. It has been sitting for over 20 years. He has plans on putting in a single cylinder diesel and hydraulics. The other one he has looks to be an ATTEX colt. It is under the other one in the weeds so I could not get a good look at it. It has a smooth dash and no hole cut for the fuel tank in the front.

What parts are interchangable between the Colt and the Superchief. I'm still trying to get the Superchief in pieces. It has the 2 clyinder , 2 stroke with 2 carbuerators on it. I believe it has the T-20 in it (2 big discs on the trans). From looking at different pictures it looks like the Colt has a different transmission. How about the axles, bearings, chains, sprockets and body?

Any info or pictures would be appreciated!

I now believe the ATTEX is a Model 208/TT. From what I saw of it it looks like the picture of Brad Garrow's 208. Also looking at a spec sheet from ATTEX, the 208 only holds 1.25 gallons of fuel. I'm just assuming they did not use a large front tank therefore they did not cut the gas filler hole in the front of the body.
I will be helping my friend dig it out of the weeds so I can take it home.

Brad, if you read this post, please reply or drop me a note so I can get some specifics on what you did with yours.
Spec sheet says Baker Hill Industries transmission. Is this a T-20? Also had a 8HP briggs from the factory.
I will either make one good atv out of the two I will be getting or hopefully I can get both of them working. I am married and have two young daughters (1 and 3) that way my wife can drive one and I can drive the other .
I get the fast one!

SORRY BUT THE MODEL WITH THE T-20 AND THE 208-TT ARE NOT COMPATEBLE, however you will have the best of both , a light duty machine for the wife n kids with great handling capability
and a durable high power model with less gracful handling capability unless you couple it with a powerful 2 stroke and use a tecneak utizing engines cluch and nutral, some quick revs too steer it, it's alot harder work
but much more gracful that way,

Well I am the proud owner of a big pile of 1973 ATTEX 440 Thunderchief pieces! I will post pictures of the major holes in the body. Hopefully someone can give me ideas that are proven to work. I'm not sure if liquid ABS will work on this. Gotta go , I'm doing inventory to see if I have all the pieces and how many new bearings I'm giong to need!

Hi everyone, I have a 1969 attex 295 that I am restoring. The body has faded pretty bad. I have found somthing that has brought most of the brightness back and thought I would share. I took my Pressure washer with a 40 DEG. fan tip and held it about 2" away from the body and with each pass the body came back to life. Please note: You will need a industrial type power washer, not these retail store models. Mine is a high doller unit that a person in the power washing buisness would use. My dad and I bought it to clean our steam traction engine. it is a 1912 George White. weights 12,000 pounds. The specs on my power washer is a 14hp. vangaurd, a general pump that has 3,500 psi at 11.6 gal. per min. and I have a LP powered heater that will heat the water to 300 deg. and high psi soap injection. I did not use the soap or heater when it shined up my body. Note: it is the gal. per min. that is more important that the psi. water pressure is useless without the valuum. Hope this info. is usefull. Matt

Believe it or not I have plans on pressure washing the body tonight. I did the frame and drivetrain last night. The one I'm using is only a 1500psi,2 gpm. I'll let you know if it works. I removed some original stickers from the front of it yesterday. I cannot believe how nice it looked when new. I'm sure it wont ever look that good again, but I'll see what the pressure washer will do. I think I'm going to build a few axles. Any tips on what to use?

How does the speedometer work ? I have not seen any hookups on the transmission. Has anyone tried using a spring on the chain tensioner?
