Does anybody know a way to install windshield wipers on your AATV. I have a Conquest with the windshield and convertible top and have the worst time trying to see when driving in the snow. It just cakes to the winshield. I also have the defroster which helps but isn't made to deice a windshield. I tried using Rainx also but that didnt work.

I was thinking maybe a manual arm would be the best mounted to top of the windshield. Having a power one would be nice though.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark

Check out Speedway Motors out of Lincoln Ne. they sell a manual wiper arm made for T-buckets, it mounts on the top of the frame. They also sell electric types that mount the same way. You could also try a Marine Supply for wipers.

Check look a JC Whittney, they have a unit for older Jeeps that should work quite well.

Mark,

I have an Argo Response, and I am thinking about adding a windshield & soft top. However, in order for my wife to get into the machine I have to set up a two-step kitchen stool next to the machine. She climbs up, steps in, and sits down. Is there any obvious way to rig the top without a rigid frame at the left front that she would have to duck under?

Thanks for the ideas on how to get wipers on my Conquest. I'll have to hang on to the JC Whittey catalog next it comes in. :-) Maybe a local speedshop can help me get something.

Doug
What you are saying can be done. The way the convertible top attaches it will be pretty easy to do. It uses snaps all the way around the front of the windshield and they can be easly undone. There is no frame up at the front to get in the way. I have a picture of my Conquest in my profile and you can see the support of the top. The only problem I see is the side curtains. Well it isn't a problem as much as an inconvience to undo and reattach. I have a digital camera and can send you some pics if you are interested in a more upclose look on how it attaches.

Doug, No problem. I'm glad that I could help out some. I'll pull my Argo out and get some pics of how the top mounts and windshield so you get an idea. It is pretty nice setup I was impressed. One thing that is really cool is how you can remove all the side curtains and have a bimmi top for the summer.

mmitch,
I just bought a new windshield and half top this past weekend for my Argo 8x8. We were just talking about what to do about a wiper. Your message came just at the right time. It looks like that manual wiper they have in the JC Whittey catalog is just what we want. I am not real sure how to mount it though. Are you going to mount one in the middle or mount two? Let me know how you got it done. Thanks

That looks very cool. You said that is factory parts? Or did you go out and put a kit togther yourself? I like the idea of not having to fold down the windshield. I definately interested in how you did it.

I plan on mounting it in the center of the window. If I remember right it was 22 inches from the top of the window to the bottom and with a 22 inch swing it takes up a lot of window. I hope it takes up enough any way. It will be a few days before I get it in though.

Guys the wiper motor is from a kawaski mule.It is a small motor and fits under the dash. Since ive installed the motor i have found even smaller motors mostly the marine type, the smaller the better. With this set up you can operate it with the windshield down or up you never have to take it off. The resivour for the washer fluid is a old small lawn mower gas tank and is mounted to the interior winch frame the motor is below the tank and mounted to the plastic air vent.I taped the rubber hose along the interior of the engine compartment up the windshied washer arm then the jet for the washer is attached to the hose aimed in the right direction and taped into place. The only mod to the argo itself is that you have to cut the hood a little.A small square patch where the motor comes out of the dash. This is necessary so you can lift the hood off otherwise the arm gets in the way of the hood when you try to lift it off. any more questions email me and i can give you my home phone# and talk you through it Good luck..

Hey guys, sorry I haven't gotten those pictures yet. I was away this weekend. God it was freezing this weekend. I think I would have frozen solid if I was around trying to remove the top.

Anthony sounds like a pretty nice setup. I've been told also to look into marine products as they are smaller and more suited for this use as compared to automotive style.

I recieved my manual windshield wiper from JC whitney and wasn't to impressed with the quality of it. I installed it any way and it works just fine. You have to make a bracket to mount to the top of the windshield to bolt it to. My son made mine out of aluminum on his mill. The canvas top covers the bracket but you can't snap the center snap because the bracket is in the way.
