My Max II is making the ill fated banging noise when I pull back on the left stick (not always, just sometimes).

I have inspected everything. It may be a few things. Here are my plans:

1) Swap left and right front chaing adjusters to see if the noise trades sides. If so, then the adjuster teeth are worn. Replace it.

if not then:
2) Swap left and right front chains and see if the noise changes sides. If so, then I will get a new chain.

if not then:

I have ordered a set of cup washers from Richard because the sprocket holes are worn. But I don't want weld them on if the teeth on the sprocket are too far gone.

Can anyone give me an idea of how to tell if the sprocket is worthy of repair or should I replace it.

so he can buy that new truck for christmas.Any
