I have a problem with my Borg warner T-20. I just noticed that the clutch side is moving in & out of the Trans by about 1/4" to 1/2". This causes the clutch to hit the motor mounting plate. What part will need to be replaced so that this stops moving around? |

Kush , I have the same problem on my spare T-20. It is the one I took apart just to see how it works. I did not do any research yet to see why the shaft moves in and out. I did have to press the clutch off the shaft after I had it completely disassembled. It looked like the clutch was forced on and was not seated fully where it should have been. I suspect this was the problem or at least part of the problem . I will try to study it better this weekend and let you know. |

liflod, I decided to pull the trans before more damage occurs. It was actually moving so much that it hit the body. I have the T-20 manual & don't see too much there that would stop it from moving. I'll pull it apart in the near future & see what comes up. |

Guys I have my tranny apart. The "C" clip that holds the input shaft in has a lot of play behind it. 1/4" to 1/2" it almost looks like there should be a thrust washer or a spring washer behind it. My trans is an earlier version that has the flat bars for the bands to hhok to that pivot in the middle. The manual needs some better closeups of the individual areas on the shafts. Any ideas what I should do? I have tried adding 2 washers behind the "c" clip but tit blocks the tarns from fully engaging in one of the gears. I will try using only 1 washer & see how that works. Am I missing something? |
