Hi new to this board.I have been looking at a used machine 1982 8x8 new 20 hp engine/primary and secondary clutches 8 new tires and a used 18 inch track with ice cleats. The over all shape is not to bad considering its age.The seller is asking 4800 is that a resonable price.Note the chains axles look not to bad although is has no chain tensioners.( On the 82 machine was there any tensioners.Any help both positive and negativewould be helpfull. Thanks |

To be honest that is a lot of money for such an old machine, 5000$ will buy you something much newer Yes the chains must have adjusters on them. I have seen many late 1990's Responses sell for that price, which is a MUCH better machine Jeff Bar |

Brian, Jeff My ARGO magnum will sell for a little over $5000 For a 1982 with upgraded engine, new tires and tracks, the price isn't too bad- Its about 800 bucks more than I would ever consider paying based on the fact my machine is an 88 and you are talking about an 82. The chains need tensioners on them without question. In regards to Jeff's post, yes, many response models sell for the same, however older machines are still in circulation and they tend to hold their value - the KOHLER engine was very reliable and a very strong engine. Don't know what kind you got now but its been upgraded and sounds like some money was put into it- always a good thing- Things to check are charging system, bearings and tranny, followed by electrical systems. |
