Guys, I have a Argo 2007 response and have had alot of problems with shifting lever pins breaking. I have not been rough on it. Now the shifter has got alot of play in it. Could the shifting linkage be going? I have had to grind it more than I want to, to get it in gear. Also, any suggestions for a small boost for a kohler 18 hp. It has been bogging on me when running tracks in heavy cattail marshes. Is there anything simple I can do to get the most out of the 18 hp. |

First guess is that the idle RPM is a bit too high, when in neutral, the transmission/belt should not be turning. So far I've never broken a roll pin on the shift linkage, I find it helps to lift up a bit on the shifter knob. |

my 05 conquest is the same, but if you shift from neutral to rev first, and then to forward, there is no grinding. |

as for the pins, I broke the first set the first month I had the argo, after replacing them (with roll pins again) i've never broken one since. |

Hi Erich. I have a older machine so i mounted the brake on the firewall so it has abit of play to change the belt. I used a long bolt through the firewall. the weigth of handle keeps it away from the driven clutch. I have some pics Kgs. |

Thanks Kenneth: So in laymans terms, it's something like the old soapbox brake, a little handle operated brake that pushes down on the outside edge of the secondary clutch, looks good, keeps ya brushing the teeth in the tranny. |
