Do you guys know if it is possible to have a machine shop make axles 5" longer instead of adding extentions for tracks. |

Hi Duckhammer- Yes,for sure but why? On a Max, you should use the extensions AND the axle brace setup. If you ever wanted to take the tracks off it would be a big advantage not to have the long axles. Lance-Why did you get the longer axles? |

Philip, the reason I was asking I think I could get custom axles made cheaper than buying a new set of soild axles and extentions. Once the tracks are on they will not come off. What do you think??? |

Fletcher, I don't know what to think.I worry that the longer axles are much more likely to get bent. They will also put a lot of pressure on the bearings. Is the amount of savings that you will get worth the risk? That's your decision. You don't say why you need new solid axles but I am guessing that you have a Max II with hollow axles? I was hoping that LANCE SAMMER would tell us why he bought longer axles from Richard, so that we can all learn from each others experience. Good luck with your track project. |

Phillip I bought longer axles so I would not need wheel extensions as I use that MAXII for tracks only, never take them off. Lance |

Thanks Lance, Are the longer axles doing the job for you without undue axle or bearing problems? How long have you had this set up.? Happy Riding W. Philip |

Phillip, 5 inch longer axles will put no more stress on bearings than 5 inch extensions. I saw no reason to buy extensions with the joints, when I wanted solid axles to replace my old bent original axles anyway. He made the longer axles for almost the same price as regular axles. Been using them for about 2 years, with around 100 hours in snow, which is a long time in the winter. May not be the best but works for me. Lance |

How much snow are you going threw, how deep. What type of tracks are you using, rubber or plastic etc.I was thinking of getting a max 2 for my snow needs. But I want to go threw fresh snow, not just on trails. |

Lance, I "m convinced. If you came up with an idea, then did it and have 2 years of experience over 100 hours of use,you have done it .Congratulations.I sure hope Fletcher g Lalande is still watching. Thanks for sharing W. Philip |
