Can someone help me with setting maximum rpm on an 18 hp Vanguard? If I adjust the throttle cable to get the linkage to pin, my idle is too high with no way to adjust it down. When I adjust it for idle, I have some throttle left that I can't get to before the linkage is maxed out. How do you achieve a balance between idle and max RPM? I know that go take it up to 4,000 I will need a tach. |

Are you bending the tab on the engine that has a spring attached? It is under where the cable attaches. |

No, I haven't bent anything yet. I was looking for a way to get the throttel throw length adjusted so that when wide open, the linkage reaches the end of its travel. Maybe this is not possible? I can adjust the cable so it opens the linkage all the way, but I lose my idle and the engine rpm is too high at idle. |
