Are here any special or unusual difficulties I will encounter changing oil in my 2006 Argo Frontier w/ a Koehler engine? |

Eric Cut a one gallon plastic milk container down to fit below your oil drain and pull the drain plug. Should hold most of if not all the oil. Ron |

Gentlemen- 5 posts up,here, on this thread, Eric has a Frontier with a "Koehler" engine. In 2006 the only Frontier had a 23hp. Briggs. Do either of the newer Frontiers have a Kohler engine?? |

All Frontiers have Briggs and all Avengers have Kohler. Chris - The Max II is my least favorite vehicle to work on. Sure it's easy to access once you have the top raised, but to get that far it's a hassle. New Max IIs have a very small engine cover that is only good for checking oil. After that you have to pull the floorboard and remove 15 wingnuts to lift the body. Makes a person dread maintenace and put off those little adjustments it might need. The Max IV is easy to work on as only the trans is hidden. Floorboards are easy to remove and allow good access to chain adjusters. The engine is sitting right at work height so it's easy to access. Engine can be removed in 15 minutes if better access is needed for the trans, but this is rarely needed. Argo is easy to work on, mostly because you rarely have to work on it. The engine area is a little tight but everything is accessible. Both the Frontier and Avenger have very large hood openings. Oil changes can be a small pain if you don't have the right tools/setup. All chains except the two coming off the trans are automatically adjusted so overall maintenance is a breeze. |
