Take the wheel off and tack the lug with a weld on the back side of the flange. Are the studs round head on the back side and just pressed into the flange? Is this on your Avenger? |

Hi Jerry--Yes, I am dealing with the Avenger. The Argo wheel studs look different than the ones on my Max but they work the same, with a spline near the head and the wheel nuts are interchangeable but you have to turn the Argo nut tapered end out on the Max wheel. I would love to tack weld the stud because I think the spline is worn in the axle not on the stud. Tack Welding!! If I Clean and sand the axle near the flange, get a real good ground, OK Are you worried about a stray ground hurting a bearing or a chain??? I could braze it with oxyacetalene. I don't think the flange is tempered much? BTW, I tried to get the nut to tighten with an impact driver,Now i am going to have to use the cutting wheel in the grinder to get the wheel off! |

Phillip, I don't see a problem with brazing. I was figuring the flange splines were stripped. Can you get a pair of vise grips in behind the wheel and flange from the bottom side where it is not blocked by the tub? |

Phillip Just tack weld stud in place from the rear, then lug nut should unscrew Jeff Bar |

Hey Philip,if you decide to try welding it just attach your ground on the axles(s) that you are welding on.Electricity will follow the shortest path to ground so as long as you ground the axle between the hub and bearing you should have no worry of a stray arc damaging bearings or chains.Just remember to move the ground to each axle as you go.Good luck.GG |

Late report. Yes thank you Jerry and Greg G.My Argo is now good to go! I saw a slide in camper for sale.Went to see it. Then took the wife to see it . Then sold and delivered mine. Helped the guy mount tie downs. Then picked up my "new" one. Had to build my floor up 2" to get the camper to clear my clearence lights. Somehow a week went past AND a couple of tanks of gas! The prices are nuts. I welded the studs today and all is well. Big ride this Canadian Holiday weekend. Thanks again. |
