I have posted some of this in other threads but now it definitely a problem. My '06 Avenger continues to have issues with the right rear chain.Started out with just tires on and a noticable binding noise. Took it into the dealer who commented how tight the chains were (after about 30 hrs). They replaced the chains and new teflon blocks which were completely worn through on the rears. No hard towing at this point in time. We then installed the rubber tracks. At 90 hrs the right rear hub seperated from the axle. We replaced that and noticed at this time that there is still something not right with the rear. The bottom chain is slack yet the top is so tight there is less than 1/4" movement. I readjusted the tensioner, and just by moving the track which propped up, was able to recreate the scenerio where the bottom chain is totally slack and the top is tight again like a drum. This is only happening on this chain. I have compared it to the left side chain and they share the same number of links, both are RC60 chain. I am now going down the path that perhaps the tensioner is not doing it's job so will replace the whole tensioner. If this doesn't work then I can only assume it is either a sprocket or alignment in the drive chain issue. Any other ideas out there? Thanks Len |

There was an issue with the tensioners and some tolerance was reduced, which supposededly fixed them. Might be something to ask argo about. |

LEN- in early 2007 ARGO changed the slider block which is longer then previous and also the adjuster which has less steps and does not click up as easy. With the tracks on sometimes the adjuster will click up too soon and the chain will be too tight; and as it rotates it pulls the adjuster in the slot thus making a clicking sound as the adjuster moves back and forth. If you pull up the back side of the adjuster to actually lower it 1 click or step I'm sure this will solve the problem. Also always be sure of tire diameters and keep the tracks a little loose. |

I ordered a new adjuster and will start from there. We reinstalled the track a few weeks back after the hub was ripped off and did it according to the instructions with the front and rear tire diameters being the lowest and enough slack between the track and the tires. I'll see how the new adjuster does. Thanks |
