Any other Avenger owners not happy with 25HP? With tracks in the snow, 4 adults and gear the 25 HP is pretty sad. It will climb a steep hill in the snow with tracks, Cab, gear and 4 Adults but it will do it at a crawl. On flat open ground it takes forever to reach top speed. I dont care much about top speed if it would do 30 MPH I would be very happy. The current set up has absolutely no punch. You cannot take a run at anything as it has no "run in it". This machine needs twice the HP it has. I love the machine but it needs work

Brad, have the same motor in my max4 with tracks and does pretty good. Start checking other causes in the machine.Sounds like its starving for fuel check fuel pump, might have a crack in the body or bad diaphragm. Mechanical fuel pump conversion kit is available. If run in really cold weather carb may be icing. These are 2 of the issues I had with mine.Down load a shop manual from Kohler Plus .com. Best speed I got from mine was 26 mph with 26'' tires. If you can down load big emails I could send you it if you can't get it from Kohler.

Besides getting the most out of the engine, you could look at the CVT and transmission ratio. It may be the high geared version. The cvt might be adjustable to up the operating rpm a little.

Wonder if you have excesss drag from track install, been a lot of discussion about that at www.6x6world.com

Wow
No problem with my Avenger. Three people, gear, and dragging Elk in deep snow did slow it down a liitle but it still had a lot of "run still in it". my top speed is about 14 to 16 mph with the tracks with the low gear (low speed) tranny. I do not see a huge difference in speeds with or without tracks, nothing like the Conquest I use to own. I would definately say that there needs to be an ajustment found in your machine. Also, I am not totally sure but asking the Argo to go 30 mph is on the high side of the factory marketing material. If I am guessing right it is no higher than 25 mph.

I should have made myself a little clearer. Even though it does slow down on the hills It will still do it regardless of the weight it is hauling. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fuel system and I already modified the primary and secondary clutches. I am not happy with climbing the hills at a babys crawl. There is no substitute for momentume or being able to take a run at a hill. The 25 HP Kohler is'nt enough. I was certified to do warranty work on Kohlers, Briggs, and Tec's for 20 years and mine runs flawlessly. I feel it is not enough motor for a 1000# machine (plus gear). I will make this winter on it and it will be modified or swapped

Hi Brad- I have an Avenger EFI that is rated at 31 HP. No choke, no carb. altitude adjustments- I love it.I don.t know how the power compares to the carburated 25 horse machines. My friend who owns a 25 hp Avenger says mine is a lot more powerful? If you are hauling 4 people and gear with tracks in deep snow you would need all the ponies that you can get. I wish I lived a little closer to the Straights of Mackinaw, we could try switching machines.

Philip the dealer I bought my machine from said He couldnt believe the difference between the EFI and the 25HP carbed Kohler, the EFI being much better. Like I said my 25HP has alot of torque but it comes on really slow. I appreciate the Avenger and it has been dependable. I would just like to set it up a little different for my application. Wish you lived closer too, as I have the only AATV on our rides. It sure would be fun to ride with a few other AATV's. Thanks

Brad, keep me posted on your intended mods. to your 25 hp. I always thought the carburetor for our 25's could be improved. Midrange is flat, found myself pumping throttle to get the accelerator pump a squirting up hill. I just aquired a 20 hp kohler and was thinking of making a manifold adapter to bolt up motor cycle CV carb with a accelerator pump from a bike motor with the approx. cc of the 25 kohler.Put in my machine, test and tune and if it works well run it on my 25. I'm sure the adaptor would look like a ''L'' going to a side draft carb, but I have room to go up.Won't have to put a prostock scoop on,didn't mean to get you mad.Hard to tell about a person here.

If you're looking for ideas, the garden tractor pulling crowd might be a place to look. Here's a 25 kohler with "some run in it".

Thanks Roger, will check it out when I get home on my own computor. Don't want to make a time bomb, but a litle throttle response would be nice.

If you google "kohler tractor pull" that'll give you a good start. I'd look at midwestsupercub, they seem popular. I bought a tach from them, called and talked to a real person. Just have to track down someone willing to talk to you. Yours sounds lean.

Yeah most likely it is,but like Brads machine it does what it is suppose to do and does it in all weather/utility conditions good, plugs show a good burn and fuel consumption is where it should be .Other than filters, oil, plugs nothing was changed beyond factory specs.
