I just purchased an older Max, the only serial numer sticker that was on it is all tore up in a box with extra parts, can't read half of it.Looks like the machine came with 3 bolt wheels. It came with 2 motors, one is a single cylinder 2 stoke kohler all in pieces and the other is a single cylinder rockwell JLO complete. I was told that the JLO was ready to run. They both have Tillison carburetors. Does any one know if these are factory items? Which motor did it come with? The big problem is it has no throttle cable or control. I will need to know what year it is to order a new cable. I can't figure out where the throttle cable is supposed to go; under the motor and up from the bottom to the carb or up from behind the motor and down from the top? Either way the throw of the carb linkage does'nt look right. Does any one have a picture of the back of the motor so I can see where this all goes or if someone can e-mail me a page out of a service manual. Maybe I am missing some throttle cable mounting brackets or linkage. Thanks for your time. Al |

You can use a current production throttle cable and route it however it works best. |

The JLO may have been the stock engine, but I don't remember a Kohler 2-stroke ever standard equipment in a Max. Tilitson carbs came on the 295 JLO Max. Good luck on the project. |

Thanks for helping , the only problem that I see is that the throttle looks like the cable has to push on the throttle arm to open the throttle and the return spring closes it. If that is the case the throttle control lever would be in for slow and wide open when released, or am I all confused? Thats why I would like to see a picture of it to see if I am missing some linkage parts. Thanks Al |

The cable should pull to open the throttle and the spring will pull to close it. |

Jerry if that is the case than the cable will have to come in toward the carb from the top of the motor and there doesn't look like there is anywhere to mount the cable housing. The cable itself goes in a small hole and a screw goes up against it to keep it from sliding back and forth. |

Do a search on google for images of JLO motor in ATV. You should get some photos from this site of some motors in Attex machines that might give you an idea. |
