I am restoring an old hustler with 21" tires.I have been told that I can't replace them with larger, say 25"tires but I saw Marion's hustler which he had upgraded from 21 to 25 inchers. No mention was made as to whether his is a bigfoot but it sure is a tough looking machine.I have measured my tire to fender and tire to tire clearances and I believe the 24 or 25 tires should go with no problems. I hunt in and around beaver swamps and need all the ground clearance I can get. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful.

the 950 hustler like my old one they say would not handle the 26" tires I only went with 22's for that reason but the 980 hustler body was a little taller and handles the 26" I beleive

Thanks for the info. Can you tell me what brand, tread design you went with and how well they perform, also how much clearance you have?I am expecting to have a lot of brush to contend with in shallow water at times so I am thinking a dozer blade(homemade) would be in order I have started a heavy duty winch mount/brush bumper(sq tubing 1/4" plate braced to frame)so I can operate blade. Will pay attention to weight.

I sold that one some time back but as I remember I was glad I didn't order bigger tires the 22 Goodyear Runamuck pretty much was a very tight fit. They preformed decent I was in the same type areas your talking about minus the plow of course :-) you can get a light weight plow like goes on a 4 wheeler
I never really had a problem using those tire but like you I wanted more ground clarance and more flotation is why I wanted the 26" tires but I think you would need to change the tub to a 980 if you can get one. I know Richard was selling hustler tubs but not sure witch model

I looking for a 8x8 undercarriage right now to built a aluminum tub similar to the attex but going to make it fit 29" 4 wheeler tires for that same reason

26" tires cool I may have to go with 22"but I am not to that point yet.I don't know where an 8x8 would be but I have thought about building a tub out of metal rather than aluminum.Aluminum is about twice the price of metal but with metal you have rust to contend with. The steel company that I do buisiness with has a brake and can bend most of the hull from a single piece of metal, but it might be less complicated to piece it together.Seems the worst of it would be axle hole placement and alignment.Framing would be welded in place.and to add brush guards just weld them on,same for winch mounts. All this can be done with aluminum but it would be expensive, metal is stronger and cheaper but also heavier.Hope this helps G
