Searched all the other posts, short of using a stick of DM-12, there must be another trick to taking off the inside bearing. The bolt and 2 washers are off, the two set screws on the inner and outer bearing are off, the outer bearing moves a wee bit on the axle shaft, but the inner is like an unlaid virgin. I've lubed it with release all(rust buster), tapped on the end of the axle using an old socket close to the axle size. Any other ideas, thanks. |

ERICH- try using a shorter bolt in the end of the axle then use a small pitman arm puller the bolt head will protect the threads in the end of the axle.

Thanks 1000 HOURS, I managed to push the axle inwards far enough for the back of the inner bearing to clear the flange and frame, my son came to the rescue with a big honkin bearing puller, 1/2 a turn and it was loose. Both inner and outer bearings were rumbling, time for new ones. Thanks again. |
