check the plug, pull the magnito ground wire off at moterand test for spark if no spark its = in moter if you get spark its in wiring or switch, some of the less common problems magnets fell off fly wheel these are inside and glued with epoxy after 20 yrs the rust seems to push them off, there are also 2 pins that trigger the coil to fire one is long and one is short,if a mouse built a nest in the blower housing this pin or pins can break off you will have to remove blower housing to check, the long pin should only have .006 to .010 gap to coil make shur you gap the long pin to the coil or your first crank will break it off.if you remove the coil check the epoxy sealant in the back look for cracks that would let moisture in,check the stator to coil wire its just a .250x.032 push connector,if you remove the stator clean the mount and the laminated core [remove the rust] you might just clean it up and reset it and fix the problem, the magnets if the came off dont fret clean the surfaces get some 1/4 inch masonite and make spacers to go between magnts and use 5 min epoxy to reglue mags to flywheel, good luck |
