Has anyone found their AATV will be top heavy in water with ROP's on the unit. I had factory roll over protection on my unit when I purchased it. I removed the unit which also had a sheet of 5/8 plywood on top and the unit now turns easyer and I suspect floats better. Look forward to feedback.

Anytime you lighten the load on your AATV it will float better. You don't say which vehicle you own. The Max IV is the most common vehicle with a cage and I think it works very well in water. It is tough enough to handle a roll, yet light enough to have minimal effect on it's stability in water. That 5/8" plywood you had on top was probably most of the problem as that was quite heavy and was placed at the very top of your vehicle.

Argo recommends not to use their 6x6 in the water with ROP and to be careful with the 8x8

I was on the phone earlier today with ODG asking that same question and I was told that you should not use the ARGO in the water with the ROPS (roll over protection structure) because its top heavy and it becomes very unstable when their is side to side movement.

ODG's products and instructional info always struck me as being heavily focused on avoiding product liability suits. Building 6&8 wheelers with short tires and no ground clearance. A company has to be careful what they say, better to err on the side of caution. John Schwab has friends that are argo dealers. No way they can show his movies to the public as a sales promotion, with what we do on tape.

David' In your above post did you mean to say that ODG was talking about a 6 wheeled Argo?
I agree with Rogers comments about being focused on avoiding liability. Being sued because the coffee is too hot will do that! W. Philip Cox

Glad to hear that ODG does not recommend the ROP's in water. I was begining to think my 2001 Argo Conquest was not going to do what I purchased it to do. Go across small beaver ponds and creeks. I have just about completed the pontoons for the unit. Should still be useful when I go fishing on big water(lakes).
