Ok... I know it is a bone-head move, but after removing the head from my L285 rockwell I noticed that the head goes on a certain way. Anyone know which direction the indent goes. Toward the exhaust port, or the carb?

Thanks...

Nothing bone-headed about it- most of us have done similar stuff (I still do on a regular basis). The flat side of the head goes to the side of the exhaust port. Good Luck with it!

Thanks for the info. I just want to clarfiy that we are on the same page. The combustion chamber is not symmetrically domed like I am used to. One half is domed where as the other is "flat". Now is that the flat side to which you are referring?

Thanks again,
Thom

No problem. Yes, the side without the dome- JLO calls it the "squeeze" side of the head, goes to the exhaust port side of the jug.

Thanks! I'll put the "squeeze" back in the right place.

Much appreciated,
Thom
