I recently purchased a 1996 Conquest with super tracks. Being totally new to the world of ATVing and not being mechanically inclined I have asked my small engines mechanic to install the tracks for me. I need information and tips on the installation of the tracks as he has never worked on an Argo before. All help would be appreciated. I have also been worned about slushy lake conditions and getting the Argo stuck. We have some pretty bad slush conditions around our lakes at most times of the winter and have never been worried driving my snowmachines through it but am leery about the Argo. Again any posts on the perils of slush would be appreciated!! |

Take the tires off, add the spacer and replace tires. Drive the Argo onto the tracks, lower the front and rear tire pressure, pull the tracks overtop the tires, get the ends close together. I use a couple of heavy ratchet straps to get the track ends to meet. Insert the rod half way, add the locking collar, finish pushing the rod through, tighten the allen screw on the locking collar. Inflate tires a bit at a time, don't overinflate the front and rears, otherwise it puts extreme presure on the bearings. |

Ditto except I use 2 6" C clamps to pull the tracks together. Erich, what presure do you inflate your front & rear tires with the tracks on? I can see your point on bearing pressure. I never thought of that before. |

Two part answer: On an older 8x8 I had borrowed, it was 3 psi just to get the tracks snug so they wouldn't jump off, on my present Bigfoot 6x6, I go no more than 2-2.25psi, I also look to see that when the tracks start straightening out between the tire's, that's about right. |
