Anyone have any experience replacing the 18 or 20 hp engine in an Argo 6x6 or 8x8 with the 25,27 hp Engines offered here pr else where? How much extra performance gain was there? Bteer than modding the original Engine?

You could always do one better, and get yourself a Yamaha 440 snowmobile engine. About 40hp. You would probably have to adjust your torque convertor though. I personally have a 74 Argo that came with a 400cc snowmobile engine. It now has a 635cc Rotax snowmobile engine it it. I know I can hit over 40mph with it, and have tons of power!

How was it's performance? I had a line on an Argo and was thinki/ng what it would take to put a bigger motor and it's gains versus hotrodding the 18 or 20HP model.

Measure the trans shaft and Check e-bay "snowmobile transmission, snowmobile clutch" for your driven end. The old 2 stroke argo converters have a larger sheave diameter than present.
