2003 MaxII, 18HP Briggs. I drained and refilled the transmission last weekend, adding 4 ounces of the limited slip additive. While I had the tub open I went ahead and put some belt dressing on the drive belt. Now I have a brief intermittent squeak/squeal that sort of sounds like a slipping belt. It only happens when the engine is under load (like going up a steep hill), and only on low throttle. If I get into the throttle the squeal goes away. It runs fine and without any noise on flat surfaces at any speed. I can't replicate it with the tub open to see if it is the belt, as it has to be underway with a load. The belt has about 1 1/2 inch or less play in it, so it appears to be properly tightened. Any ideas? This sounds like the drive belt, but could it be the tranny? Thanks, Bud |

Its the belt dressing causing the squeak. Just keep on riding it and it will go away. |

I'll second liflod, sometimes belt dressing can cause lots of noise for a short time. |
