Thanks in advance for you help. I have a MaxII (Im unsure of the year but my guess is somewhere around 88-02) recently I had the passenger rear chain come off, when this happened the chain and rear sprocket was ruined. I replaced them with new from Richards Relics. (thanks for your help) Here is my new problem. I put everything back together. Checking the chain for tightening and making sure all wheels were lifted off the ground. Well I took it out this weekend and the rear chain came off again (Chain broke and twisted). It looks like the middle passenger sprocket is not aligned properly. How can this be, is there a way to adjust just the passenger side middle sprocket. everything on the driver side looks good. |

each axel is locked in by cam lock bearing, the sprokets are aligned by a single bolt hole, simply put if your fraims strait and all that your cam lock bearing might have sliped a litle.
unlock it and push the axel in or pull it out till everything is aligned again and lock it up again.
myself i firmly beleave the axels should be aligned and located BY THE SPROKET DRIVE TUBES SINGLE BOLT HOLE!

well if the drive tubes are the right size an all that the ends of the tube would be traped between the outher bearing and the fraim or in the least the axel shold bottom out on the fraim or a buching or inner bearing for thrust support.
i built out from my fraim on some axel positions with some big washers to keep alignments and suport the thrust needs of each axel,
i have yet to find decent spacers for the area between my drive tubes and outer bearing,
this i beleave would finaly free me from the dumb ass cam lock outer bearings.
posably problems with them are unique to me and my max but they have faild me more than once and id like to replace them as i have on one of my attex machines.
in the attex i found exelent quality and workmenship as the drive tubes fit nicely between both inner and outer bearings thus locating the axel as well as the proper sproket alignment.
my fraim had this real bad case of abuse wich bent it cracked it and twisted it way out of whack, my chains were falling off left and right.
i had to be resqued from the trails at humphrey and olean several times, i guess i was in denial or something. but once i removed the fraim it became perfictly clear, you can e-mail me for pics of my fraim, there to large to upload to this site still.

I'll try unlocking the cam lock bearing and shifting the axle a little. Im sure my axle is straight. In the next day or so I think I will order new chain tightners and a new rear chain. Thanks for your quick reply I'll let you know how I make out. |

ok, take a good long hard look at your fraim to make sure it is strait,
if the tentioners faild you id recomend you opt for the upgrade mr clark has for the chain tentioners,
i think there pricy so maybe you can try just the rear set first.
there the bigest pain anyway.
i have the same sort of system in the frount but i used sprokets in frount, i got mr clarks plastic rollers for my rear tentioners.
and id just take up slack, dont tighten chain caus it just speeds ware n tare. |
