Can someone help me with the wiring of my 1976 superchief? Ran great until I got starter hot trying to start it. Replaced starter with a new one from Richard. Now it has spark but won't start. Has good compression. Can anyone help? |

Sounds like it wasn't running too great if you got the starter hot trying to start it. Are the plugs wet or dry ? If they're dry, spray fuel into the carb and see if it will run. Sometimes you just need the engine running to get the fuel pump to kick in and keep it running. If it runs with the sparyed fuel and then dies, you either have fuel supply problems or carb problems. You could pull the bowl off the carb and see if theres water or crud in the bottom. |

Give the carb a good shot of WD40. If it starts, then you know you've got fuel problems. If it still doesn't start then you've got electrical problems. This test works with any type spark ignition engine. |

how long ago did you fail to start it ant burn out starter moter, gas oil mix can evaporate leaving oil in cranck case, then your incoming only adds to whats there, too rich is no fire! some blockds have a means to drain crank case others do not, worse yet many makes n models get water in the system so easy you wouldent beleave it. try the fule test, with your gasoline to carb shut off maybe with ether first, cause it might dry oil, old fuel and even water out of case somewhat, then if it burps on that or runs some try wd-40 and ether combo, im a beleaver in ether but it dose need some sort of oil right, if this stuff fired it up switch back to fuel, now if your fuel kills it it is your gass, might be contaminated with water or something or your carbs screwed up, |

If you have wet fouled the plugs try another set. I have dried plugs and still got no fire ,but changed to a new set and it started right up. Eddie |
