I talked on other threads how I had problems going up hills it always seemed to want to loose power and when I pulled the right lateral it wouldn't want to spin from a dead stop. Well today I was out with it again after changing the trans fluid and making a few adjustments and it still did the same thing. However when I pushed both laterals forward it did great and from a dead stop when I pulled the right one back and left forward it spun on a dime. When from a dead stop I pull the left back it spins on a dime also but I don't have to push forward on the right lateral. Is this normal or is any other adjustments necessary. Thanks to all that help out. |

You are getting close to the solution now Paul. Try tightening the spring on the left lateral. If that solves the problem, great. When you get a chance, it would be nice if you could compare the spring tension on your laterals with someone else's Max. Your laterals should spring foreward at all times to keep both sides engaged when in foreward even going uphill, unless you pull one or both of them back. W. Philip Cox |

Paul, put some lubricant (penetrating oil) down the little hole in the hand grips. Crud or rust can build up and make your laterals bind. You can also check for a cotter key on the linkage that might interfere just a little. |

Hi Phil thanks for the advice. To adjust the spring tension do I turn the nuts on the two threaded rods just in front of the battery? Also a thank you to Fred as I did what he said also. |
