Hello my name is Paul I have a 2003 max II and have gotten the two wrenches from Richard to adjust my trans. Just wanted to know if anyone has ever done it and exactally how. Also wanted to know if any other adjustments can be made externally on the trans.

HI Paul - I adjusted the trans on my max iv to shorten the length of the throw on the laterals. Made a big improvement. What are you trying to adjust and why? W. Philip Cox. ---------------How many hours are on your machine?

Phil I got the tools to adjust the 4 plungers just behind the hairpins. I have a 23hp kohler that has about 150hrs on it. I bought it used about a month ago and had it out on flat land and it ran great took it out then on some trails at my dads property that has alot of hills a creek and a little pond. After it was up and down and in and out of the pond it seemed to loose climbing power and had a hard time coming up the bank on the other side of the pond. When I pull the left stick on flat ground it will spin all day but when I would pull the right stick it didn't want to turn at all from a dead stop. If I am moving it seems to do ok. It almost seems like the brakes are on but they arn't. Richard Clark thought that maybe a trans adjustment would do it. I did check my laterals today and the right side pulls back about 5 1/2" and the left about 4 3/4" could maybe that be a problem. Also just wanted to know if anyone else had any ideas. It runs fine when I start out it seems to act up as it gets hot. The trans fluid is fine and has been changed.

Sorry for the 2 day delay Paul. When I adjusted my laterals I had too mach movement-ie: the sticks hit the dash going foreward and the seat when trying to put the brakes on. If you look back in previous posts re: T 20 adjustments you will see that Fred Sowerwine says to measure the distance between the two sticks when one is foreward and the other is pulled back all the way. I wish I could remember what measurement Fred said, but he did say they should be equal. I suggest that you give recreatives industries a call, you will be surprised at how helpful they are.
