I have a 2001 conquest and operate it in rocky Maine area and skid plate is cracked badly both sides in front of front wheel bearing area with lowest clearance. Water leaks into engine compartment so I fear lower body also damaged / cracked. Planning to take off skid plate, maybe repair lower body damage with plastic welding rod, then put back on new skid plate and seal skid plate all around with some type of sealant / epoxy around top rim of it. Also looking to find a conveyor belt to strap underneath the new skid plate front to back for protection so doesn't happen again; was provided with this suggestion.

Anyone out there had this problem with Argo and done similar replace / repair. Any tips / suggestions? I'm hoping I can make the lower body repair cause it looks like replacing this is a real project, not that the skid plate alone isn't.

Thanks, Larry Roy

Larry, if you are planning to take the skid plate off anyways it will be easy to weld it while its off. repairing the main body may be a bit more difficult. here,s a tip--do not seal between the skid plate and the body! when the machine is floating the water is under pressure and will get in there and when it freezes and expands you will get damage.
