I just bought my first Max. Not sure what I have other than it's a Max II. It has a 2 cyl 2 cycle Rockwell engine? Is this stock? Anyone know how many CC's it might be? Also the machine don't move when I put it in reverse? Adjustment maybe? |

Pete, In addition to shifting into reverse, you need to pull both steering laterals back as far as you can and hold them back while going in reverse. The brake is on when the laterals are forward and the machine is shifted into reverse. You don't need to adjust your tranny unless the lever travel is about eleven inches with one stick all the way forward and one all the way back (center of one to center of the other). Yes, it is probably stock and you probably have an early Seventies machine. Someone else will have to give you the CCs as I don't have much knowledge of early engines. |

JLO Rockwell 340cc and 440cc twin engines were used, so your engine is probably stock. If you are new to driving a max, you may not know that the controls work opposite in reverse. Pull sticks back all the way to move, forward to brake. Could be a shift linkage/lever problem, but usually only one side will fail and you will go in circles. |

Thanks for the quick response guys! I went out and even at Zero degrees the old max fired up. I put it in reverse and presto!! It works when you pull on the levers. I would have never figured that out! |
