I have a 2001 Max iv, with the cable heater. This last year the cable is frozrn everyday it's cold out and the heater takes forever to work. I actually broke the plastic throttle lever, and had to replace it. and when it does thaw out the idle is to high (won't thottle all the way back). Is there any way to solve this, or am I looking at buying a new cable assembly? Our local dealer went belly up so I don't know about order parts, accept directly from recreative industries. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

i remove my cables and blow compressed air thew em to get any water out,this will usualy woork the rest of the year as long as when not in use you keep the throtle covered with say half a 2 liter soda bottle, i also have tryed the antifreez solution, i used a vacume pump to draw 100% automotive antyfreez concentrat into the cable sheth,
in this way when any water dose get into it it will become part of the antyfreez solution.
this has actualy worked stedaly for three years so far.
or another thing to try would require ordering a cable lube system from recreatives, this gaget conects with the cable at throtle end and injects a lubricant under pressure threw the entire cable, when the lube that comes with it runs out you can esaly make due with almost any spray lube like wd-40 ect..i have sean this work for a while on a few peoples maxIV cables, george breton had to do this yesterday so his cable would be working today when we went out fer a ride.

Buckbagger. Where are you? All I do is do is blow out the cable with compressed air and blow in some fluid film and then take and blow it through with compressed air and I don't have any problems as the fluid film is heavyier than wd40 and does'twash out as fast if there is any water. |

I blow out the cable with compressed then use a syringe filled with RV antifreeze and put it in one end untill it comes out the other end. I run all winter ice fishing, sometimes 20 -30 below and never have a problem. Forget the heated cable, dont need it. |

Philip; Youcan buy it at Canadian Tire its in the automotive section and is in a dark yellow can for around 10 bucks. I find antifreeze doesn't work that well if you happen to get much moisture in the cable as it weakens the stregth of the solution. Just my opinion. |
