Hi Folks,
I need to get a new battery for my Buffalo Truck. I will be adding additional lighting, a VHF radio and a stronger winch. I am setting this truck up for use as a Rescue Vehicle with our Rescue Squad. Does anyone know of either an Optima Battery or Odysesy Battery to replace the existing battery. What battery group number is the standard for this vehicle or other Max's?
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Marty

Marty,Your charging system determines how much acc. you can run. A big battery will help but you will have to re-charge it to top it off when depleted by the additional acc.,avg. charging system is rated at 20 amps.Too much amp.(like a car batt.) might fry your starter solinoid.I was attemted to be yanked out by some folks with big winches only to have them stall it out because the winch didn't have enough juice(amps) for full power, a max 2 with a resonable sized winch ended up getting me out.The factory batt. is made by DEKA pn#10UIL,365 ca at 32degrees and 300 at 0 degree typ. garden tractor size.maint. free, $22.50.There is an earlier post somewhere about the young guy in western new york who took a automotive 1 wire type alt. 35 amp.and ran it off a pulley bolted to his clutch hub.It was in a max 2 with a 16 hp. briggs,I camped out next to him at a club ride so I was able to check it out.It worked fine, the only draw back is that it did draw some power from the motor.I run 2 batts. like mentioned above.pos. leads tied together and only 1 ground to only 1 batt. and manually alternate the ground in case i run down the batt.while running 12volt acc. with the engine off or cold weather failure even have a jumper cable tied to frame so i can jump one batt. to another ( don't run batteries tied together in an effort to charge them both up at the same time)Maybe you could find a manual batt. selecter switch so this could be done from the drivers seat?If you have a kohler motor go to kohler plus.com and see if a bigger charging system is available.........nope can't think anything else good luck

I run two batts in my argo one is the starter and batt for the argo the other batt is for the hydrolic pump i installed a batt isolater and it workes grate if one batt gets low the isolater dose its job and switches to that batt if the main batt gets low it switches too it and charges it and it still only uses twelve volts to start but i do have an altenatter on mine the batt isolater cost me about twenty dollers i put am opttoma deap cycle for the hydrolics but like Dennis sujests check out the system first find out what it puts out back in to the batt this can be done with a omemeter tester
