I have a 2003 Max II with the 18 hp Briggs and a Warn winch. I'd like to get a snow plow for it to clear our 100 yard drive when it snows. Does anyone have any sources that they can point me to? I have a 5 foot blade that I used to pull behind my 8n that could be "donor" material, but I do not know how it would mount to the Max (I assume that something attached to the front axles would work, lifting and lowering the blade with the winch). That or purchasing a blade and the mounting hardware outright may be an option. Thanks, Bud |

Bud, the plow kit Max uses comes with frame rails that mount to the front four axle flanges. From there, an A-frame connects to the plow and allows it to pivot in five directions. The winch raises and lowers it. Since you already have the winch, the 60" plow kit would be $1115 or the 72" plow kit would be $1394. |

The following pictures were on a Max 2 that had a home made plow set up at a dealer. The plow frame was only attatched to the front axle. It should be attached to both the front and middle axle to distribute the weight and the forces created while plowing.

I checked the price for the factory frame mounts with RI but I don't remember what they cost. I do remember that the price with shipping was high enough for me to consider fabbing my own. Hence, I took these pictures. I certainly would engineer them better than the pictures show. Brandon and Fred may even have the factory parts or complete plows set ups or they should be able to get them easily. Curious where you are located in case you don't use that back blade and decide to sell it. I could use one for my ACWD tractor. |

Thanks for the information and photographs. For as much as this would cost I may end up simply buying a used plow and putting it on the front of my farm truck. I am located 60 miles south of Kansas City, but that back blade is a lighweight piece of crap. |

Bud, KC is far south of me in WI. If you have a truck to use for plowing, it would be cheaper to get a used plow for that then a new plow for your your Max. I have two small plows for garden tractors that I thought of using on my Max. After seeing the prices on the Max plow (just for the mounting hardware on the axles), I decided to fab my own if I proceed. I thought it would be fun to use the Max to plow small areas. I really don't need it. I already have enough snow removal equipment to use. Do you have any metal cutting/welding skills? Even used steel is pricey today but still cheaper than new. That back blade with some modification will work on your Max. A cheap ATV winch will work for lifting. I would suggest setting up a dual battery system in the Max if you do because that winch will drain the battery pretty quick. It takes a while for the Max to recharge the battery. When it get's below zero, you need that extra battery. |

Thanks. For the price and time investment, I'll be on the lookout for a plow for the ol' truck. That, or keep pushing my wife for a "real" tractor with a bucket on the front. |
