oridganal matireal was some sort of bronze, posably an oil bearing bronze like in bushings. it did not mater if discs were greasy or got chain oil on them, at least first pucks in my oldy were, but when they wore out i just took a hole saw and drilled out some automotive metalic disc brake pads, these ware out quicker than my oridganal pucks, you need to adjust more often, i have sean folks who carry erasole cans of brake cleaner onbored there attex too keep such home made pucks clean, as these do not like oil of any kind, you might make shure theres no oil on the discs, it can escape from inside if you have oiled or greased the little planetery gears inside, it only requires a verry little and sometimes people overdo them, if your trouble is not from above also check out thickness of your pucks, if worn out too much it will not be posable to put enoph squeeze on your disc's, wach your pucks on both sides of each disc, the planetery set can expand and contract some as pucks push on them and if some puck is worn out it might push disc insted of squeezing it, also be cairfull of home made pucks cause the base is steal! don't adjust pucks till steal contacts the disc's, and just incase you did not know how to adgust them there are allen bolts and 9/16 nuts on each side of caleper's you looen nut and turn allen bolt in and then tighten nut, if adgustment dosent do anything then your pucks are probly too worn out. im sorry i havent spec's handy to tell you new thickness and totaly worn thickness, hopefully someone can post these spec's for us all. |
