Howdy. I've had different opinions on what oil I should be using in my Amphicat's transmission. It originally had the Sachs 277 2 stroke. Transmission has one speed with a reverse that's used by sstepping on a loop by the floor. The manual I got with the machine is for an Amphicat but it describes a BS motor, and says to use gear oil like 80-90. Thsi doesn't make sense because my tranny has internal clutches and brakes. A person I've talked to through AOL instant messenger has a few Amphicats and says to use 30 weight non-detergent motor oil. And finally, I think it was David Berger, says to use ATF. Would Dexron III/Mercon be fine? This seems like the best bet because of the brakes and clutches inside, and I haven't been here long but Mister Berger seems to be a smart gentleman. I'd like to use the Mercon since I can use Mobil 1 synthetic. I've actually used are 3 of these oils for more or less short periods (around the yard once) and it worked fine. which is the right oil to use? Thanks. |
