My MAX IV 900-T was STOLEN!!
Richard,
Yhave been a source of good information in the past and if there is any way you can help me out with this I would sure appreciate it. My dad has been very sick and I have not been out to the shed where my Max was stored for about a month. When I went out there today, the Max and the trailer I used to tow it were gone.
Items missing are:
99 Max IV 900-T serial number 15998
Utility trailer, black, 6x12, tilt bed 1K9TS1225VS132071 Iowa License 5653 JJ
The Max did not have the plugs in it so if someone is going to try and take it in the water, they will need to buy some someplace.
If someone gives me information that leads to the recover of this stuff and the arrest and conviction of the people who took it, I will make it worth their time and effort.

john it's too late now i know but i wanted to renew some info i wred from this same situation as posted long ago by someone, there was some person who posed that a gps device can be installed some place out of the way that can pinpoint the local of machine to within 70 feet anyplace on earth.
that was a few years ago and price then was something like $400.00
im shur the tech is cheeper now.
so dose anyone out in discussion board land know anything about this tech to update us all?
i think it worked like a lo-jack
but you can check on line from your pc to locate whereabouts,
it requires a hiden spot inside vehicle and at the time last writen about was size of cigeret pack.
i shur hope you get your vehicle back and undamaged, maybe an alarm can be hooked up to it for future security,

Lojack works after the fact and can be used to track the vehicle. Mobileguardian can be used with a computer and you can see where your vehicle is at all times. Basically a map on the computer so you can see if your vehicle has been moved or is moving. It provides realtime tracking. I've seen them used by parents tracking their kid's vehicles. Another type is Fleetlocate, a lot of trucking companies use them.
The best advise I can give for people reading this and wondering how they can secure their machine is target hardening. Make it difficult to steal. On a trailer ready to roll is easy so secure the trailer by locking the wheels and putting a lock on the hitch. Everything can be stolen with enough determination and time but the idea is to make it hard enough that the thief passes on the target. Stored off a trailer is better because then it requires being lifted up on a trailer or in a truck or driven. So at least make it not easily driveable. Don't leave the key in it. Pull the plug wires, and put locks around the chains. Argos can have a lock put through the brake disc. Things it will only take you a minute to get it operational but a headache for a thief. |

Iwrote up a post then deleted it by accident. Slimtrac and trimtrac are the smaller portable units. They can be bought for around $250 to $400 depending upon where a person finds them. They normally have an activation fee and then a monthly fee or a fee for a block of units. Units are transmissions from the unit. It can be set to give an update by time or motion. So if it doesn't move for say 24 hours it can be set to give an update. These types normally give a signal when moved and can be set to give a signal every so many minutes while moving and then after stopping. All of these are really after the fact or in the act devices. I still believe prevention is the best least expensive option then a tracker to help recover. None of this helps John but may help someone in the future. |

thanks to all who had the teck knolage and posted for us, while i defenatly agree that prvention is key~
wouldent knoking on a thiefes door and acting stupid and asking stupid questions for a while and then some to make em scwerm be sort of fun, all this while the police are on the way would be a kick. you standing there all inocent like and all the while you have proof of ownership in your pocket, |

John can you give more descriptive information on your Max IV such as color, accessories, wheel and tire size, and any marks or scratches that would set it apart from any other Max?
The color would help us and get us to give it a closer look. Also it may be repainted or disguised so any that have been painted with camo or nonfactory paint should warrant a closer look. |

Jerry (and everyone else)--
Thanks for your support and concern. It is tough both financially and emotionally to have your stuff ripped off.
My Max was stock green (solid color). Had the RI winch on the front with an upgraded attachment plate that also bolted through the attachment of the top body section to the bottom body section. It had a heated cable, 26" tires and the O ring chain. Pretty much tricked out for the year it was built. The muffler supports had been re-welded and the muffler itself had been replaced. The ignition wiring had also been chewed up by mice once and it had been spliced, but to see this you would have to take the back cover off the engine.
When they stole it the plugs were out so it is possible that it may now show signs of having a lot of water in it...
Finally, there was a plug-in black lead for a battery charger. The lead ran between the back support and the seat of the rear seat in the middle.
The serial number is 15998.
It didn't really have any other distinctive scratches--it was always kept inside and covered.
Thanks again for your comments and support. If anybody comes across any information about my missing machine, I will definitely make it worth your time to let me know.
