I had my 93 Max II out for it's first real run after purchasing it. A few times when I was going over downed logs, large hills, it seems the tires are not turning. Is this an indication I need a new belt? The belt doesn't look all that bad. Can you adjust the tension in these belts? Thanks. |

It may be a loose belt and you can adjust it by sliding the engine mount towards the rear of the vehicle (slotted where it bolts to the rubber frame mounts). Be sure to keep the offset at about 1/4" and the clutches square to each other and slide the anti-flex mount to the rear to keep it in contact with the engine mount (anti-flex mount is on the outer frame rail). First I would try increasing the return spring tension on the lever springs under the battery. As a vehicle gets so time and years on it, the bands wear a bit and seat to the drums and can cause some slippage in the trans. Try adjusting these springs 1/4" of thread on the adjusting bolt ,under the battery, at a time as the more tension you have, the harder the levers pull back. Hope this helps. |
