New Argo owner. Recently purchased my first 6 wheeler all in pieces. No 2 parts attached, having trouble finding manual or anything to help me put it back together. Chapperal motor, so I Argo can't tell me what year this is. Believe it is early 70's and it is green if that helps. Anyone with info on how to reassemble or where to get a manual with pictures that will so such will be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU. |

Basket case machies can be tough to figure out at first but they have not changed that much. So you can look at a parts breakdown of a current production machine and get a good idea where everything goes. There should be an identification plate on the upper body, either in the seating area or under the hood on the firewall area. The transmission should also have some stampings on it to identify the transmission model. What do the axles look like? Are they solid rods with the sprockets held on by a bolt? Or do they have splines with a sproket held on by a set screw? Motors and axles and parts often get swapped in machines so they may or may not be original era. What side of the machine do the steering levers come up on? What does the engine cover look like and what does the cover or piece between the transmission and seating area look like. You should be able to go to Argo's home page and download a current owners manual and parts manual. These would be useful as a guide. You can alos look through the archives and museum on this site and compare it to the look of older models. It sounds like a lot of fun putting it back together. |

Argo has videos and DVD's of complete tear down, repair/replace and rebuild. The videos do a good job of showing the reassembly. You should be able to get them from a dealer near you. If you don't have a dealer close by Fred Sain on the board here is a dealer and he should be able to help you. Where are you located? |
