I bought a Max II but it doesn't seem to fit the description of any of them I have seen described online. It has a Tecumseh engine and Comanche logo on the side. Any idea if this is a true Max II and what year it might be? Also the engine seems to get very hot and am wondering how it is cooled. |

Kim, all Max used Tecumseh engines from about 1979 through 1989. They do run a little hot, but make sure all the shrouds and fins are clean as it is air cooled. Might want to have your valves adjusted as they can be the cause of an overly hot engine and make sure you use straight 30 weight oil in hot temperature. You can call the factory with your serial number and they will tell you what year it is. I don't think Max used a Comanche logo, but that was before me and I could be wrong - I know I have never seem one with a Comanche logo. |
