A little help please..... Max IV will not shift out of forward? Changed out the Tranny fluid with "F" and 'differential additive" per the manual, but the shifter is stuck in forward BIG TIME! Any pressure to pull back would surly break the weld on the shifter. Any ideas? TIA |

Check for gunk around your shifters. You will most likely want to pull the engine to give you access to the tranny. Pull the plate off that holds the shifter in. Vacuum up any surface crud and pull the shifters out with smooth steady pressure (you can use a bar but be very careful). Your best bet is to soak the cavity the shifter sits in with WD - 40 or similar product and let sit over night. When you get the shifters out, check for rust and crud. Clean up with steel wool. Put a rag down in the hole before you start using steel wool on the tranny case and vacuum any loose stuff out before you pull the rag out. Use lots of Vaseline on the o-ring when you reinstall the shifters and leave a glob of Vaseline on top of the shifter, filling the crack above the o-ring. You are right, never force the tranny as you will only break things. |

Sounds like this just recently happened as you were out riding? For reasons no one can explain, the T-20 sometimes gets stuck in gear. Simply drive it around for a few minutes and pull on the shifter gently here and there. When it gets good and ready, it will come out of gear and be back to perfect. No actual repairs needed. |
